[Review] THCXtract - Banana Cake Delta8 Cart

[Intro]

When you see a product being advertised as having CDT (Cannabis Derived Terpenes) there's a certain quality you expect from the concentrate inside, its flavor, and the high that it gives you. CDT's tend to be more natural in flavor and the effects mimic the plant that they were derived from. Whereas, on the other end of the spectrum, BDT (Botanical Derived Terpenes) tend to be more artificial tasting with flavors that are more fantastical because the producers have a greater quantity of flavors to pull from.

With a name taken from a dessert you'd expect this to have a sweet, fruity, maybe floral taste, right? According to WeedMaps, the actual Banana Cake flower is described as such: "The top reported aromas of the Banana Cake strain are bananas, vanilla, and cream." Unfortunately this was not the case with THCXtract's attempt at this flavor.

[Review]

To test this cart I used my Yocan Uni (purchased on LighterUSA here) on each of its heat settings to get a fair result for the overall flavor of this cart. There's really only one way I can describe the flavor here and it's definitely not banana cake.

Oddly enough, and I promise I'm trying to be as accurate as I can be, but this cart tastes like you were drinking the water out of a hose in the summer. It has this plastic flavor that I just couldn't shake as I was trying to wrap my head around where I last tasted that. It's like if you mixed "fresh air" or whatever that flavor might be... with hose water.

In my opinion one of the top reasons I look for CDTs is the natural flavor it embodies in the final product. With Delta8, which this cart is, I try to look for flavors that represent that original plant as accurately as can be so I can still feel like I'm vaping weed and not sucking on the end of a yard snake. So far the only company that has come close to smelling, tasting, and having near identical effects as the original plant is Delta Farms (located here) from which I've tried their Northern Lights, Gorilla Glue #4, and Strawberry Cough.

With all of that being said... I'm not knocking THCXtract - hell, they were nice enough to send this my way free of charge. I'm sitting here thinking maybe I got a bunk cart and the other carts taste more along the lines of what I am looking for? Can it be redeemed? I couldn't get past this flavor and I don't think I'll finish this cart. I'd be interested in trying their other flavors and doing a side-by-side comparison.

As for the other aspects of this cart: the high, the cart construction, and its ability to keep an open pathway for air - everything seemed to be on par for me and I really had no complaints as it performed as well as any other THC or Delta8 cart I've had previously.

I'm not sure how THCXtract's other flavors are but I'd be interested to see. Now that the PACT Act is in place I'm not sure if I'll be able to try them out. Luckily I've been vaping dry herb anyway :) More reviews on that type of hardware coming soon...
